Oerlikon Nonwoven has long-term experience in process and engineering for spunbond, meltblown and airlaid production lines for hygiene, wipes and medical applications, as well as technical nonwoven solutions.

As part of the Oerlikon Manmade Fibers Segment, Oerlikon Nonwoven is a reliable partner and one of the leading solution providers of a wide range of flexible, high-performance nonwoven technologies.

With its Oerlikon Barmag, Oerlikon Neumag and Oerlikon Nonwoven brands, the Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment is one of the leading providers of manmade fiber filament spinning systems, texturing machines, BCF systems, staple fiber systems and solutions for the production of nonwovens and – as a service provider – offers engineering solutions for the entire textile value added chain. The portfolio is rounded off with automation and Industrie 4.0 solutions.

Comprehensive spunbond portfolio

Oerlikon Nonwoven has a very broad range of spunbond technology products and services. The process for manufacturing technical nonwovens from polyester or polypropylene is characterized by high production capacities and yields, with simultaneously low energy consumption for producing benchmark nonwoven products.

For the manufacture of hygiene nonwovens, Oerlikon Nonwoven offers its QSR (quality sized right) systems. The advantage for nonwovens producers is highly competitive solutions at attractive prices with comparably low investment.

Cost-effective manufacturing of meltblown nonwovens

New, unique and highly sophisticated filter media can be easily and efficiently manufactured thanks to Oerlikon Nonwoven’s meltblown technology. Whether as a stand-alone system with one or several positions, as “plug & produce” installations for already existing systems or in conjunction with other technologies, the Oerlikon Nonwoven meltblown process enables the cost-efficient manufacture of meltblown nonwovens with the quality requirements of tomorrow.

Airlaid technology for the nonwovens of tomorrow

Pulp or cellulose fibers as raw material for manufacturing nonwovens are currently virtually unrivaled with regards to sustainability and environmental compatibility. The Oerlikon Nonwoven airlaid process is the ideal solution for processing this raw material into high-end products for a wide range of applications. Today, there is huge demand for manufacturing solutions for high-quality, lightweight airlaid nonwovens with economically attractive production speeds and system throughputs.

A new, flexible way of creating wet and dry wipes

For the production of hybrid substrates for wet wipes from cellulose fibers, long fibers such as cotton, or even powders with polymer fibers, Oerlikon Nonwoven together with Teknoweb Materials offers an alternative dry laid technology. The spunmelt and airlaid processes are merged into one step and offers clear advantages in terms of resources, performance, and cost compared to the conventional processes on the market.

Key capabilities:

• Spunbond production plants for technical nonwovens
• Spunbond production plants for medical and hygiene applications
• Meltblown production plants for liquid and air/gas filtration and sorbent material
• Airlaid production plants for disposable nonwovens, e.g. hygiene applications, table-tops, wipes
• A proprietary multilayer process for hybrid substrates
