Freudenberg Performance Materials Apparel launched a fully biodegradable padding, comfortemp Lyocell padding, made from sustainably produced cellulose fiber that degrades in soil within just under 60 days. The material is a result of a cooperative venture with the fiber manufacturer Lenzing. Comfortemp Lyocell meets requirements for high-performance thermal insulation for sports and outdoor clothing.
Comfortemp lyocell padding is based on lyocell manufactured by Lenzing. Lyocell is a cellulose-based fiber produced from natural raw materials in an environmentally friendly production process using eucalpytups wood from sustainable forests. The solvent used to obtain the fibers is almost completely reused in the production cycle. Designed to be lightweight and efficient, the padding absorbs body moisture up to 45 percent and is water-repellent. It conforms to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard.
