Freudenberg Performance Materials showcased its approach to sustainable wound care at Compamed in Düsseldorf from Nov. 15-18. Under the Eco-Check label, the M 1701 and M 1714 are plasters comprised of bio-based raw material to allow biodegradation in an industrial composting setting after use. The M 1701 for traditional wound care plaster is designed with 100% polylactid acid derived from natural resources. The M 1714 consists of a mix of bio-based fibers derived from natural sources, has been evaluated for industrial compostability and conforms with ISO 13432.
Freudenberg also presented two foam technologies, including its prototypes featuring silicone-coated foam technology in the form of a bordered dressing with a silicone adhesive border and a hydrophilic debridement foam. The hydrophilic debridement foam is suitable for use in wound cavities and features large pores to pick up fibrin coatings and dried exudate.
