Mireia Fernández Bazán graduated in chemistry from the University of Valencia, Spain, with a master’s degree in sustainable chemistry from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. A researcher in the chemical recycling group at AIMPLAS since 2020, she has experience in the synthesis of polymers through low environmental impact routes, as well as in the organic synthesis of high added-value additives from biomass. Currently, her work is focused on the valorization of plastic waste through chemical recycling techniques such as depolymerization by solvolysis or thermochemical processes such as pyrolysis. In addition, she is member of the research group on flame retardants, where she is investigating the recovery of high-value flame-retardant additives, as well as the elimination of legacy substances from flame-retardant plastic waste. She can be contacted at info@aimplas.es or +34 96 136 6040.
