Disposable nonwoven products are indispensable in the fight against infection in hospitals today. They provide critical protection in the sterile gowns and drapes of operating room staff, as well as their instrument packaging, and contributing to more effective and convenient routine cleaning procedures throughout the facilities.

The market for disposable wipes based on nonwoven fabrics is currently very healthy and not least, that for flushable products that has gained momentum over the past decade.

It has been estimated that about 1,335,000 tons of nonwoven fabric will be consumed by the wipes manufacturers in 2016. Of this figure, 580,000 tons will be produced in Asia, 414,000 tons in NAFTA and 341,000 tons in Europe. CAGR is an overall 8%, but 14% in Asia.

Around 100,000 visitors from around the world are expected to visit the ITMA Asia + CITME 2016 textile machinery show, which takes place from October 21-25 at the new National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC) in Shanghai, China.

“The combined show is now well-entrenched in the textile machinery exhibition calendar,” said Maria Avery, secretary general of the event organizer Cematex. “It draws all the leading textile and garment manufacturers and is an essential showcase for the Asian market, offering plenty of business and networking opportunities.”

Yet on a global level, two factors continue to exert a strong influence – the progress of China and the price of oil.

The 17th ITMA textile machinery show, which took place in Milan, Italy, from November 12-18, broke all previous records, attracting almost 123,000 visitors from 147 countries and with 1,691 exhibitors from 46 countries participating.

“We registered a 20 per cent jump in visitor numbers compared to the last event in 2011 and more importantly, from feedback, we can confidently say that our message on sustainability has resonated greatly with buyers,” said Charles Beauduin, president of show owner CEMATEX, the European Committee of Textile Machinery Manufacturers.
