Teijin Marks a Century of Innovation at JEC World 2018

The Teijin Group announced that it will showcase a wide range of high-performance composite products at JEC World 2018, the annual exhibition that will take place this year from March 6 to 8 in Paris.

Celebrating a century of innovative development since its founding in 1918, the Teijin Group will present several of its composite and material solutions. The comprehensive presence of the Teijin Group at JEC World 2018 is an evidence of its range of solutions with its high-performance materials and composite technologies for a diverse array of applications such as aerospace, automotive, marine, civil engineering, energy, oil and gas, sporting goods, heat and flame protection and ballistics.

Composite Solutions:

– Tenax Part via Preform (PvP) enables serial production of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) automotive parts. Tenax carbon fiber is sprayed, consolidated and trimmed automatically into near net-shape preforms, helping to reduce carbon fiber waste and minimize intermediate processing. The injection uses a high-pressure resin transfer molding (HP-RTM) technology including an in-mold coating step providing easy surface painting. An automotive part produced in small series will be exhibited.

– Sereebo is the world’s first mass-production technology for carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) and improves production efficiency by significantly reducing molding time to less than one minute. Useful solutions are possible for high-volume mass production of automotive parts such as front bulkhead, crash can, and more.

– TCA Ultra Lite is a 1.2 specific gravity sheet molding compound. It offers a premium Class A finish with paint and gloss qualities comparable to metals, including aluminum. The material is able to withstand the E-coat process, and passes all OEM paint tests and is currently in production on 21 body panel assemblies of the 2017 Chevrolet C7 Corvette.

Material Solutions:

– Tenax carbon fibers are high-tech carbon fiber products, which significantly enhance properties in thermoset and thermoplastic composites. Tenax ThermoPlastics provide high mechanical performance, chemical resistance and recyclability. Combined with rapid production processes, they allow short processing time and low scrap rates. Tenax Dry Reinforcements are specifically designed textiles for infusion technology such as woven and non-crmip fabrics that provide excellent potential for high production rates, integral structures, complex shapes and flexibility of parts design. They fulfill the highest standards in performance for the aerospace industry.

– Twaron and Technora para-aramid fibers offer attractive energy-saving and eco-minded solutions such as air freight containers made from Twaron which are not only light weight but also flame- and heat resistant.

– Endumax Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) provides superior strength, dimensional stability, light weight and durability as demanded in ballistic protection. Endumax allows the production of extremely large plates suitable for armoring even large vehicles. High-tech laminated sails that integrate Endumax which can easily meet higher expectations and requirements will be showcased.

Radici Yarn SpA renews its ISO 14001 certification

The list of RadiciGroup companies certified to the ISO 14001:2015 environmental standard just got longer. Radici Yarn SpA’s production sites in Villa d’Ogna and Ardesio, province of Bergamo, Italy, recently received the Certiquality document officially attesting to their achievement.

Care for the environment and reducing the environmental impact of production activities have always been central to the mode of operation at all RadiciGroup sites. This commitment starts with the Group shareholders and top management and is now an integral part of the corporate culture.

JX Nippon ANCI launches Milife

JX Nippon ANCI, Inc. headquartered in Kennesaw, Georgia, with manufacturing in Roanoke, AL and composite manufacturing in Dalton, Georgia, will launch, Milife®, their fine denier polyester nonwoven in January 2018 for filtration applications.

Milife is a continuous fiber product but is made by a propriety technology that is not like spunbond. It utilizes a nonwoven process with continuous, oriented filaments, with machine and cross direction fibers alignment. Milife is available as MD only or with MD and CD strands.  Milife is manufactured in Japan by a sister company under stringent quality procedures and is exclusively distributed by JX Nippon ANCI, Inc. – Kennesaw GA.

The technology allows very fine fiber sizes. Milife normally has fiber diameters of 10 microns (1 dpf) and Milife Microfiber has fiber diameters of 2.7 microns. This places Milife fiber sizes between spunbond and meltblown and with Milife Microfiber smaller/equal than meltblown. Milife fiber sizes fills a gap in the current nonwoven fiber sizes available.

Milife is a thin product, with exceptional narrow fiber size distribution, low elongation, dimensional stability, and excellent web uniformity. It is available with weights from 8 gsm to 60 gsm. Milife is currently used in luxury packaging, interior decoration, specialty tapes, medical and other industrial applications. Milife can be used in filtration products as a support material, as a filter media or as a fine denier component in a composite.

Messe Frankfurt, Inc. & SPESA Announce Extension of Contract to Co-Produce Texprocess Americas

Messe Frankfurt, Inc. and SPESA (Sewn Products Equipment & Suppliers of the Americas) recently announced an agreement to extend the contract to co-produce the Texprocess Americas trade show through 2032.

Texprocess Americas is the largest North American trade fair for the equipment and technology for the development, sourcing, and production of sewn products.

The fourth edition of Texprocess Americas will be held May 22 – 24, 2018 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia and once again co-located with Techtextil North America, making it the largest technical textile, nonwoven, machinery, sewn products, technology, and equipment trade show in the Americas.

Texprocess Americas and Techtextil North America were both named 2016 Trade Show News Network’s (TSNN) Top 250 Trade Shows in the United States.

Maag Introduces New Facilities In Shanghai And Guangzhou

Maag, a worldwide-leading manufacturer of gear pumps, pelletizing systems, filtration systems and pulverizers for use in the plastics, chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, recently announced the opening of two new facilities that will serve the Chinese market.

The first is a new 4,000 m2 facility in the Jiading District of Shanghai. This larger, more spacious facility will help Maag better showcase its portfolio of pelletizer, gear pump and pulverizer products to its customers in this market, as well as highlight the capabilities of its Gala and RE Scheer brands. The facility will include production for Maag’s pumps and pelletizers as well as offices for its sales, service and after sales support. The new facility currently houses 80 employees and features the largest rotor-regrinding center in China, with the ability to process up to 2,000 rotors per year. This will all enable Maag to offer better, more complete service and solutions to its customers.

To unveil the new facility, an open house was held for its customers and the local business community on Nov. 1. Among those attending were Ueli Thuerig, President of Maag and Paul Merich, Vice President and General Manager of Maag in Greater China.

“We are excited to take this next step in the Chinese market as we bring our excellent products, service and solutions closer to our customers,” said Merich in his opening remarks. “We have built this facility with the intention of bringing global manufacturing quality and expertise to China.”

The second facility is a brand-new rotor-regrinding center in the city of Guangzhou, which will introduce Maag’s high-quality rotor-regrinding services to its large client base in the south of China. The rotor-regrinding center will offer the same high level of quality and service as that found in the Shanghai facility and Maag’s other grinding centers around the world. In addition, an applications/technical lab is being set up at the facility, which will allow hands-on demonstrations of all Maag products, including those from Maag, Gala and RE Scheer. Finally, the facility will be home to a new sales office for the region.
